As chief operating officer, she works with the Office of the President (president, executive vice president for health affairs, executive vice president for research), vice presidents for business affairs, finance, information technology, student affairs and human resources, and with university counsel.

The provost's senior staff is directly responsible for undergraduate affairs, graduate affairs, diversity initiatives, strategic planning, institutional research and accountability, and faculty personnel.

Dr. Willihnganz assumed her post in May 2004 after having served in an acting capacity for two years.

She came to UofL in 1985 as a faculty member in the College of Arts and Sciences' Department of Communication, and brings to her work a strong background in organizational, business and professional communication; an understanding of the classroom; and a determination to ensure a quality educational experience for all UofL students.
