It is estimated that more than 2 million children in the U.S. suffer from OSA, a condition that can lead to pulmonary hypertension, behavioral disorders, learning and cognitive deficits, diabetes and depression. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, OSA should be distinguished from primary habitual snoring (HS), and that all children should be screened for snoring as part of routing health care maintenance. Currently, the only test to determine the presence of OSA is an overnight polysomnogram (PSG), a costly test to which most Americans do not have access. The Radum™ Test being developed by LDG Sleep Technologies will be capable of reliably distinguishing between OSA and HS. The test detects protein biomarkers in patient urine or serum samples that are specific to OSA.
