EndoProtech Awarded $270,000 from Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development

Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear announced on November 16 that MetaCyte portfolio company EndoProtech has been awarded state funds as part of an initiative to attract and support technology-based small business by matching federal awards the companies have received.

EndoProtech was awarded a $1 million NIH STTR grant in 2008, qualifying the company for the state matching funds program.

"We are pleased that the Cabinet for Economic Development has recognized the promise of our work," said EndoProtech president Claudio Maldonado, Ph.D. "These funds will support pivotal safety and efficacy studies related to our lead product."

In addition, Maldonado said plans include the addition of one full-time staff person on the EndoProtech team to manage the ongoing research.

EndoProtech is developing and commercializing unique therapies which have application in the fields of organ transplantation and invasive cardiovascular surgery.
