INNOREM, INC.

Incorporated:    August 2005

Contacts:    Y. James Kang, Ph.D., D.V.M., Founder and President

Description:    All Chinese medicines are derived from natural products. Of the 1,031 new chemical entities covering all diseases in the years 1981-2002, 48 percent were natural product mimics and another 5 percent were the direct utility of natural products as sources of novel structures. University of Louisville researcher James Kang, President of InnoRem, Inc., is actively engaged in using modern analytical and chemical techniques to develop new drugs derived from traditional Chinese medicine [TCM] and other natural products.

InnoRem's lead product candidate will likely be a drug to treat liver fibrosis. Chronic liver disease is responsible for over 1.4 million deaths annually (WHO, World Health Report 2004) and in the U.S. is among the top ten disease related causes of death (CDC, National Center for Health Statistics, 2004). To date there are no approved antifibrotic agents for the management of fibrosis.
