MetaCyte receives financial support from forward thinking state and local agencies. This funding allows MetaCyte to forgo cash compensation from its partner portfolio companies in favor of a common stock equity position. Therefore, early funding for MetaCyte partner companies can be used to meet developmental milestones, not to pay service fees to MetaCyte. For cash-strapped fledgling companies, that is a significant advantage.

Kentucky Department of Commercialization and Innovation in the Cabinet for Economic Development is leading the statewide initiative to spur the growth of the knowledge-based new economy in Kentucky. The Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development is the primary state agency in Kentucky responsible for creating new jobs and new investment in the state. New business investment in Kentucky in 2004 totaled nearly $2.3 billion with the creation of just over 16,500 new jobs.
Metro Louisville is committed to health science commercialization as the future of our economy, and views MetaCyte as a cornerstone of the community's efforts to create and accelerate the development of health science companies. The medical center is recognized as a job-growth area and a major part of our local economic engine.
Louisville Medical Center Development Corporation MetaCyte Business Lab is the venture development subsidiary of LMCDC. The mission of LMCDC is to develop a vibrant life science research park, consisting of at least 25 acres of land. LMCDC's vision is to make the Louisville Medical Center the next significant biomedical commercialization center in the United States.
